International Symposium on Open Science for Information Professionals aims to bring librarians, academics, researchers, research scholars, and students to exchange and share their experiences on all aspects of open science and librarianship. The key questions throughout the conference will be:
- What are current practices for information professionals in supporting Open Science?
- Do you (as future data stewards) know how your researchers are managing their research data and other digital resources now?
- Which processes may lead future data stewards/data librarians into partnerships with the researchers?
- What will help our researchers and librarians be ready to follow Open Science protocols?
To address these questions, the event will provide a comprehensive overview of practical and policy initiatives towards Open Science among researchers and the role of future data stewardship in our Malaysian context. Participants will benefit from the knowledge and varied experience of researchers, their teams, and institutions who are currently navigating the opportunities and challenges of Open Science in the daily practice of their work. In particular, the event will cover the following areas:
- Current practice and level of awareness of Open Science
- Potential for data stewardship roles in Malaysia
- Open Science and society, including equity
- Open Science policies
